The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is working to prevent fraud and protect employers from chargebacks but, they need your help. When you receive a claim notice from TWC, especially if the employee is working normal hours or if you do not recognize the filer, respond to it as soon as possible.
What should you do if you receive a notice from TWC for an employee who is working full time or a filer you do not recognize?
This is fraud. Report this notice to TWC as soon as possible. Waiting to report or not reporting fraud could cost your business and negatively impact charges to your business on future unemployment claims.
Please note that if your employee’s hours have been reduced, they may have filed a valid claim for partial unemployment even though still employed.
What should you do if you suspect fraud?
Report to TWC as soon as possible.
What happens if you do not report fraudulent claims?
Failure to respond to or report fraudulent claims in a timely manor may cost your business and negatively impact charges to your business on future unemployment claims.
